A 75-year-old man has had a prolonged 8-week stay in hospital following a right neck of femur fracture treated with a hemiarthroplasty. His stay was complicated 3 weeks ago by the development of a hospital acquired pneumonia, for which he has received a 10-day course of IV co-amoxiclav. 3 days ago, he started complaining of abdominal cramps associated with watery diarrhoea occurring 6-8 times a day. Whilst awaiting the results of stool samples, a colonoscopy is requested to look for an underlying cause of his change in bowel habit.
What is most likely to be seen during the colonoscopy?
