A 9-year-old boy presents with his parents complaining of bilateral red eyes

A 9-year-old boy presents with his parents complaining of bilateral red eyes, foreign body sensation, marked pain and swelling, particularly on the right side. He reports a background history of periorbital itching, intermittent puffy eyelids and watering. He has a history of mild asthma and suffered with eczema as a child. Examination showed marked conjunctival hyperaemia and chemosis on the right, but there is no evidence of corneal involvement. What would be an appropriate first-line treatment option?
