A 1.5-year-old toddler who recently started weight bearing presented to A&E unable to walk. The child was in excruciating pain and was refusing to stand on his feet. On inspection, the toe nails were up slanting with rough yellowish aggregates underneath. The sole of the feet had layers of markedly thickened skin that were very tender to touch. On questioning, the mother mentioned that the baby’s dad suffers from severe debilitating foot disease that limits his mobility and was very concerned that her child may have developed the same condition.
The patient has no known allergies and is not on any regular medications.
