A 28-year-old woman presents with a feeling of unsteadiness whilst walking and dizziness. The dizziness has occurred intermittently over the last few weeks but she finds it seems to fluctuate throughout the day and is becoming more pronounced. She has vomited once. She reports that she has suffered from a minor ringing in her left ear for two months and has since developed a slight ringing in her right ear. She states that her hearing is normal but you feel you have to talk loudly when questioning her. She also reports that her mother has suffered similar symptoms in the past. On examination, she has reduced corneal reflexes bilaterally. There are a few beats of nystagmus to the left at end gaze. What is the most likely cause for her symptoms?
