A 34-year-old avid hiker presents with a history of migrating monoarticular joint swelling for over 1 year, which gets better on its own without treatment. It started first in the knee with swelling and some pain on weight bearing but was tolerable with analgesia. Other joints involved were the right shoulder and left ankle. He has also started seeing reddish discoloration of his hands which has been progressing over the last one year, but is not limiting his daily activities. He is a non-smoker, has no significant drug history and has never taken any antibiotics or over-the-counter medications until recently.
