A 34-year-old rock climber presents to clinic with burning pain in his foot. He has recently had a fall while climbing and though he didn’t think he injured himself, is concerned because he has read on the internet that back injuries can cause pain and weakness in the legs and feet. On examination, he has pain over the left forefoot which is particularly elicited over the 3rd to 4th interdigital space. There is a small, very tender mass palpable. He has no muscle weakness, and his reflexes are normal. The rest of the neurological exam is normal. What is the most likely diagnosis?
