A 42-year-old lady presents with worsening abdominal pain and distension over several weeks. On examination, she has hepatomegaly and clinical evidence of ascites but no stigmata of chronic liver disease. She has a past medical history of DVT and has had 2 previous miscarriages. Blood tests reveal a bilirubin level of 7, ALT of 160 and ALP of 380. An ascitic tap is performed which reveals exudative ascites (SAAG <11g/dL).
