A 42-year-old lady with poorly controlled sickle cell disease presents with a 3-hour history of right-sided facial

A 42-year-old lady with poorly controlled sickle cell disease presents with a 3-hour history of right-sided facial and upper limb weakness, and her partner reports that she has been having difficulty finding words during this time as well. On examination, there is evidence of expressive dysphasia, reduced power in the right arm and a forehead-sparing right-sided facial droop. Observations are all within normal ranges, however the patient’s partner reports she had experienced some symptoms of an upper respiratory tract infection over the last few days. A CT head is organised which doesn’t show any acute pathology.
