A 56-year-old teacher presents to the headache clinic. She has been experiencing an intermittent sharp left-sided headache for the last year. The headaches occur multiple times a day for 2 weeks, lasting for only a few seconds each time. They then seem to stop for 4-5 months, however, she does notice some mild left sided headache is still present between attacks. She believes the episodes are triggered by eating, brushing her hair and touching her face. During the episodes, she has noticed that her left eye becomes swollen, red and watery. She wants to know what the cause of her headaches is.
