A 58-year-old journalist presents to A&E with visual disturbance which has since resolved. He reports complete visual loss in his left eye, which he describes as a curtain coming over his vision. The symptoms lasted for approximately 3 minutes before resolving. He reports that for the last week he has been feeling “a bit out of sorts” and fatigued with a mild left-sided headache. He also reported feeling off his food due to a feeling of discomfort during dinner. He has a history of hypertension and is a current smoker. On examination, there is no visual disturbance at present but his left forehead is tender to palpation. A CT scan demonstrates no haemorrhage. What are the most important next steps in management?
