A 69-year-old female presents to her GP with worsening fatigue and unexpected weight gain. She was diagnosed with a colorectal carcinoma 2 weeks ago and is awaiting surgery, and in the meantime has been taking oral ferrous fumarate for a month due to a mild iron-deficiency anaemia. She has a background of asthma, T2DM and hypothyroidism and is taking PRN salbutamol, metformin and levothyroxine and has been stable on her medications for some time.
