A 75-year-old gentleman tells his neurologist he has excessive drooling. He has a background of Parkinson’s disease for which he takes levodopa and rasagiline. He has hypomimia and a stooped posture. He has no notable tremor at rest and he looks steady on his feet without a walking aid. The patient agrees that his Parkinson’s symptoms are otherwise well controlled on his current treatment. He appears very distressed by the drooling. Although his recent appointments with the speech and language specialist have helped he would still like to start medication to help alleviate the drooling. He has no known allergies.
