You are asked to review a 28-year-old woman who has been admitted with an acute behavioural disturbance. Her parents report that she has recently taken days off work on account of fatigue, but in recent days has not been sleeping and has made a number of expensive purchases of household items. There is a prior history of depression, for which she was on sertraline.
On examination, she is restless, her speech is pressured, and there is a flight of ideas. There are no other notable findings. Lumbar puncture is performed under sedation and is reported as normal, with no oligoclonal bands seen.
