You are asked to review an 83-year man with PD, as well as hypertension and ischemic heart disease, on the ward. He has been admitted with aspiration pneumonia and is somewhat confused. Prior to admission, medications were Memantine, Carbidopa/Levodopa 10mg/100mg, Amlodipine, Bisoprolol and Aspirin. Nursing staff report excessive drooling, and the patient’s family have reported that he finds this distressing. He has previously seen speech and language therapists in the community for this problem but did not find this helpful. What is the most appropriate management strategy for this?
