You review a fit and well 19-year-old female in the Emergency Department, who attends following an episode of loss of consciousness in the community approximately 45 minutes ago. Her friend is able to give a collateral history and reports that following her collapse, there were twitching movements of her arms and legs. The patient remembers becoming clammy before losing consciousness and being orientated shortly after regaining consciousness. She did not sustain any injuries. Presently, she feels back to normal but is very tired.
The ECG taken at triage demonstrates only sinus arrhythmia, and her observations are within normal limits. There are no findings on general or neurological examination. Her VBG (venous blood gas) shows no abnormality.
