Gavin, a 6-year-old boy, is dragged, shouting and red-faced, into your consulting room by his tired looking father. His dad describes outbursts like this happening at least once a day for the past year, often over small things like being told to put his shoes on. He says it can be even worse at school, where he is consistently disobedient and causing disruption to the class, but he has heard no concerns of violence or truancy. During the consultation, Gavin does eventually calm down and apologises to you and his dad for shouting.
