Tom is a 10-year-old boy who presents to a new GP with recurrent abdominal pain. His parents often express dissatisfaction with the medical care he has received previously because Tom’s abdominal pain was previously investigated with no medical causes found. It was previously suggested to Tom that it may be psychological in nature.
