A 16-year-old girl attends the GP to discuss contraception. Whilst discussing her medical history, she mentions how a previous doctor who had treated her for multiple throat infections warned her she may experience some trouble with her heart in the future, although she was not aware of any symptoms currently. She has no medical history apart from the throat infections that she and her family previously had. She has recently immigrated to the UK from India. On examination, the GP hears a murmur.
