A 22-year-old woman is brought in by ambulance after experiencing shortness of breath, palpitations and dizziness

A 22-year-old woman is brought in by ambulance after experiencing shortness of breath, palpitations and dizziness. She says she also has some tingling in her lips during the episode. In the ambulance, her oxygen saturations were 99% on room air, and her ECG showed normal sinus rhythm. She did not require any oxygen in the ambulance. She says the episode lasted about ten minutes and by the time the ambulance arrived it had resolved. A panel of blood tests, chest x-ray, and peak flow testing all show no abnormalities.

She says she has had episodes like this twice in the week, but they usually resolve after 2-3 minutes.
