A 22-year-old student presents to her GP with difficulty breathing, productive cough, and fever for 2 weeks. She has asthma and is having to use her blue reliever inhaler more frequently, but this is not completely resolving her symptoms. She has no other past medical history of note, and her asthma is usually well-controlled with daily inhaled corticosteroids. She recently moved into a new shared house. She is a non-smoker and has no known allergies. On auscultation she has widespread wheeze bilaterally and some inspiratory crackles over the left lung base.
