A 26-year-old lady presents with acute onset joint pain and swelling
A 26-year-old lady presents with acute onset joint pain and swelling that started in the right ankle and knee but has now moved to involve her right wrist, right fingers, left knee and left wrist. She recalls experiencing night sweats that began two days before the onset of the joint pain. She is usually fit and healthy and does not take any regular medications. The affected joints are tender, swollen and warm to touch. Examination of the hands reveal painless, pustular skin lesions. She states she is in a monogamous relationship with her partner, however, three weeks ago, he was treated for dysuria and urethral discharge with ceftriaxone.
