A 30-year-old woman has been having irregular periods and has been trying to conceive for the past year

A 30-year-old woman has been having irregular periods and has been trying to conceive for the past year. This is the first time she’s visited her GP about this problem. She also says that she finds it hard to have sex because her vagina is dry, and she needs to use a lot of lube during sexual intercourse. Her GP suspects hyperprolactinaemia and does a blood test. Her blood results come back with a prolactin level of 7000 mU/L (range: <390 mU/L). She is referred to a specialist endocrinologist.
