A 30-year-old woman is brought to a GP appointment by her partner

A 30-year-old woman is brought to a GP appointment by her partner. He is concerned with what seems to be a drastic change in her personality and behaviour. She had previously been outgoing and “bubbly” but over the past couple of months has been increasingly withdrawn. She refuses to go to any social events, spends most of her time alone in their study – where she says she has “important work” to do – and doesn’t ever really speak to him anymore. She also has stopped taking showers and baths, saying there is “no point”. She does not say much during the consultation, other than refusing to tell you what this “important work” is for fear that you will steal it. Her voice is monotone, and her expression blank throughout.
