A 32-year-old woman is seen in the general endocrine clinic to discuss the results of her blood tests last month

A 32-year-old woman is seen in the general endocrine clinic to discuss the results of her blood tests last month. She mentions having difficulty sleeping at night for the past month due to a slight tremor in her hands and excessive sweating, which occurs throughout the day. She mentions losing 1 stone in weight unintentionally, despite having a good appetite. She is otherwise well and takes a multivitamin tablet every morning with breakfast. There is no significant past medical or family history. She is a non-smoker and drinks a glass of red wine every night on most days of the week. On examination you notice warm sweaty palms and also note that her eyes look slightly red and pale; you can see the whites of the eyes above the iris. There is no palpable lump in the neck on clinical examination.
