A 35-year-old male presents to A&E with acute pain in his right knee

A 35-year-old male presents to A&E with acute pain in his right knee. There is no history of trauma. His observations were within normal range aside from a borderline tachycardia at 95 bpm. On examination, his right knee appears slightly more swollen compared to the left and is warm to touch. He appears to be in excruciating pain despite having taken co-codamol at home. An X-ray of the joint revealed calcification within the articular cartilage.
