A 35-year-old woman presents to her GP with hearing loss

A 35-year-old woman presents to her GP with hearing loss. On examination, you confirm that she can hear better in her left ear. On Rinne testing, the patient hears the sound when the tuning fork is placed on the mastoid process of both ears. She hears it again when it is placed in front of her left ear but she cannot hear it again when it is placed in front of her right ear. On Weber testing, sound from the tuning fork is louder in the right ear. You diagnose cerumen impaction. What was seen using an otoscope to make this diagnosis?
