A 40-year-old man attends A&E with a severe headache

A 40-year-old man attends A&E with a severe headache. He says the headache first began suddenly three days ago, and since then has come and gone, lasting for around an hour each time, which is on several occasions throughout the day. The pain centres around his right eye, but he has no associated visual disturbance. He is currently suffering from an attack of the headache, and it is noted that his right eye is swollen and very watery.
