A 44-year-old lady presents to her GP with acute onset of right wrist and knee pain
A 44-year-old lady presents to her GP with acute onset of right wrist and knee pain. This is the third occurrence of wrist pain in the past 18 months but she has never experienced knee pain before. The pain is described as a dull ache with accompanying stiffness that is present throughout the day. It has not been debilitating and has not affected her daily activities. The previous two occurrences were self-limiting and she did not seek medical attention. Review of her medical notes reveal biopsy results from three years ago describing evidence of continuous inflammation and ulceration with widespread erythematous changes in the rectosigmoid colon.
