A 45-year-old businessman with long-standing epilepsy

A 45-year-old businessman with long-standing epilepsy but is otherwise fit and well is admitted by his GP following increasing confusion, headaches, and nausea. He describes having felt ‘off’ for the last week since starting Fluoxetine. He describes a reduced urine output and general feelings of lethargy in addition to his other symptoms. He is found to have marked hyponatraemia but is clinically euvolaemic. Your supervisor mentions that this can be caused by the medications he’s taking (carbamazepine and fluoxetine).
