A 47-year-old lorry driver attends his outpatient appointment with the respiratory team. He was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) last year when he presented with his wife, who complained of his night-time snoring. He has trialled continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) but finds the mask very uncomfortable, complaining of a runny nose and headaches after using it. The staff have previously modified the machine to start with a lower air pressure but the patient is still experiencing headaches.
