A 48-year-old man attends a GP appointment

A 48-year-old man attends a GP appointment. He has been having investigations into recurrent episodes of collapse, which started happening around six months ago. He has been discharged from secondary care services following extensive investigation, including a 24 hour ECG, stress testing, and an echocardiogram, all of which were normal. His collapse episodes occur two or three times a month, and generally happen when he is at work, as a car salesman. He describes a feeling of dizziness and clamminess, before a sudden loss of consciousness, followed by a quick recovery. These episodes only happen whilst standing. His past medical history includes gout, hypertension and angina.
