A 5-year-old boy presents with his mother to his GP
A 5-year-old boy presents with his mother to his GP. He has felt generally unwell with a sore throat for 3 days, and he noticed a rash around his armpits yesterday which has since spread over most of his skin. His mother thinks that the rash may have been caused by the paracetamol that he has been taking for the last few days. He has taken paracetamol before with no issues.
On examination, the rash is maculopapular and has a ‘sandpaper’ feel; there is circumoral pallor and a strawberry tongue. His temperature is 38°C.
