A 50-year-old male presents with persistent pain for 2 months in his left lower leg following a road traffic accident 3 months ago. This was fixed with an open surgery at the time. He describes this as being burning in character and does not relieve with paracetamol. At times, he feels that the pain is even worse than when he sustained the initial injury. On examination, there is very minimal swelling in the area compared to his right leg, but it is exquisitely tender to light touch. The limb is neurovascularly intact.
