A 6-week-old baby boy is brought into the GP surgery by his mother for his 6-week newborn examination. He is not having any problems according to mum and appears to be gaining weight well. On examination, you notice there is a swelling in the right side of his scrotum. Palpation of the swelling doesn’t appear to cause any distress, and it transilluminates when a light is shone through it.
