A 6-year-old boy presents with his mother to the optometrist for a routine eye test

A 6-year-old boy presents with his mother to the optometrist for a routine eye test. His mother says he has been complaining of frequent headaches and achy eyes over the past few months. He is reluctant to go to school because he finds it difficult to see what is written on the board. Fundoscopy is normal and visual fields are intact. It is noted that he has reduced visual acuity bilaterally. Both parents wear glasses to correct refractive errors which reduce visual acuity. What is the most likely diagnosis?
