A 6-year-old girl is seen in the paediatric clinic because of recent worsening fatigue and increasing incidence of infections. Her mother also points out a bruise on her knee, which occurred after she fell whilst playing. Her blood tests show a pancytopenia and a bone marrow biopsy done subsequently shows hypocellularity with no leukaemic cells or neoplastic changes.
