A 60-year-old man is brought to see his GP by his wife who is very concerned about him. She has noticed that his personality has completely changed over the past year. He is more impulsive now, seems to lack social boundaries (approaches complete strangers in an overfamiliar manner), and can be very aggressive at times. She explains that he started having word finding difficulties a year ago, which have worsened to the point that he can no longer hold a proper conversation unassisted. He does not appear manic or psychotic and neurological examination is unremarkable.
