A 7-year-old girl, Jane, presents with a 2-day history of left-sided hearing loss
A 7-year-old girl, Jane, presents with a 2-day history of left-sided hearing loss. Jane has a history of recurrent otitis media and is currently being treated with antibiotics for otitis media of the left ear. Her mother explains that Jane has been very restless and is complaining of ringing in her left ear. Jane is also having problems with balance and refuses to walk because she says that everything is spinning around her. On examination, otoscopy of the right ear is normal, but otoscopy of the left is not possible due to distress. Rinne’s test is positive bilaterally and Weber’s test lateralises to the right-hand side. What is the most likely diagnosis?
