A 77-year-old woman attends a GP appointment, accompanied by her husband. He has grown concerned about her memory over the past several months, saying that she is increasingly forgetful. She continually repeats questions and conversations throughout the day, and is getting confused about household objects – she forgets the names for things like the kettle, and he found her glasses in the freezer recently. The patient denies this, and insists that she is fine – her husband says he had to ‘do something’ as he found her in the middle of the road outside their house the other day, and is worried she will ‘forget herself’ and get hurt. She has no past medical history of note. Routine investigations are done, with no significant abnormalities found.
