An 8-year-old boy comes in with a cough and runny nose for the last few days. His mother states that he has complained of pain in his left ear and some abdominal pain. On examination, his eardrums appear erythematous, as does his throat. There is no exudate. His abdomen is soft and non-tender. His heart rate is 90, respiratory rate 22, blood pressure 96/71, temperature 36.5, and saturations 99%.
