Miss Nimako is a 33-year-old woman of Kenyan origin who has recently attended clinic as she has been experiencing profound fatigue over the last couple of weeks. She is a known sufferer of systemic lupus erythematosus, but this is well managed, and she is normally well. In addition to the fatigue, she has noticed that she has been bruising more easily. You are unable to see any petechiae, but she does have an isolated low platelet count. The remainder of the examination and work-up is unremarkable.
