You are the SHO for paediatrics. You are asked to see Baby Jeys by a newly qualified midwife. Baby Jeys was born yesterday at 36+6 weeks by emergency C section for placental abruption. Mum and baby are both doing well. Breastfeeding has been established and they are bonding well. The midwife noticed on initial examination that the baby has asymmetrical groin creases and wanted to run it past you. Your examination is entirely normal except for what you think is a ‘clicky hip’ on the left side and an apparent leg length discrepancy (the left is shorter than the right by 1.5cm).
