A 25 year old woman is brought into A+E with her partner following an episode of “going really stiff, then shaking loads, and then coming round and talking after a few minutes”. The woman seems fatigued but able to answer your questions. She is 30 weeks pregnant, and doesn’t believe she’s had something like this before, although on further questioning she does remember her mum saying she daydreamed a lot as a child and sometimes had funny mannerisms. She and her partner are looking for reassurance that her baby is ok, and that she is unlikely to have something like this again – especially in labour.
