A 32-year old woman with a 10-year history of psoriasis is reviewed in clinic

A 32-year old woman with a 10-year history of psoriasis is reviewed in clinic. She has had several flare-ups in the past two years, which have been difficult to control with topical corticosteroids. She has been feeling increasingly worried about the impact the condition is having on her life and has had to take a significant number of days off work in recent months due to flare-ups. She uses daily emollients to try to manage her psoriasis and has never taken any systemic drugs for her condition. She did undergo a course of phototherapy last year – though she does not feel this was that effective, as she had a flare-up a few weeks after the treatment. She lives at home with her partner and they are currently trying to start a family – which is very important to her.
