A 35-year-old man attends the GP, complaining of episodes of dizziness

A 35-year-old man attends the GP, complaining of episodes of dizziness. He is a competitive squash player and tells you that he first experienced these symptoms following a physiotherapy session during which he was lying prone for 20 minutes. When he stood up, he felt nauseous and the room was spinning around him. In the week since he has had several further episodes lasting around a few minutes, which have been occurring whilst he is playing squash. During these episodes, he also feels his heart fluttering. He has an important tournament coming up soon and is worried about his performance.
