A 37-year-old woman is recovering after an operation

A 37-year-old woman is recovering after an operation to remove a benign non-functioning pituitary adenoma 4 days previously. She has been well since the operation, and the pituitary gland itself was preserved post-operatively. She begins to complain of headaches and nausea, and a CT head demonstrates cerebral oedema. Her lab results show marked hyponatraemia, with reduced serum osmolality. Her renal function is otherwise normal. Further investigations confirm that she is suffering from Syndrome of Inappropriate ADH
