A 40-year-old primiparous woman presents with increased pain around menstruation and heavy blood loss during menstruation. Usually, she controls her menstruation with 2-3 regular tampons a day for 5 days, but now she is using up to 5 super-heavy tampons a day for 5 days, which has been a gradual change over the past year. She is also now taking paracetamol more regularly during this time, whereas before she only used pain relief on the first day. She has had no changes to bladder or bowel function, no dyspareunia, and is generally well in herself. She has no significant family history. On examination, the abdomen is soft, non-tender with a suprapubic mass. What is the most appropriate investigation on suspicion of uterine fibroids?
