A 45-year-old woman attends a neurology outpatient appointment
A 45-year-old woman attends a neurology outpatient appointment. She has been undergoing an investigation into her chronic headaches. These headaches have been occurring several times a day on a daily basis for several weeks, before remitting for months at a time, only to inevitably reoccur. They predominantly affect the right side of her face, and last for around 30 minutes per episode. She has been taking some tablets prescribed by her GP for symptomatic relief, which prove effective, but she is keen to know whether there is any other treatment she can try to prevent the headaches. She is currently symptom-free.
