A 54-year-old male presents to his GP with low mood as he is concerned about his gynaecomastia

A 54-year-old male presents to his GP with low mood as he is concerned about his gynaecomastia. He feels extremely embarrassed and has presented a few times in the past for similar reasons, though the GP had advised that no treatment was necessary. He is otherwise fit and well, with no significant past medical or family history. The GP had tried to elicit the cause for gynaecomastia on previous presentations, though no cause had been identified. On examination, there is moderate enlargement of the breast tissue bilaterally. There are no other significant findings.
