A 19-year-old lady presents with a left-sided throbbing headache that began 4 hours ago. She is nauseated and explains that bright lights and loud sounds worsen the headache and that she has experienced similar episodes twice over the past few months. Her current episode is refractory to paracetamol which she took an hour ago. She denies consuming alcohol or tobacco. Her focal neurological exam is unremarkable and her vital signs are within normal limits. She is otherwise fit and well with no past medical history other than an allergic reaction to aspirin.
